About

Lloyds Clinical is one of the UK’s leading private healthcare providers, specialising in Medicine Distribution, Clinical Homecare, and Chemotherapy treatment services. The company delivers a range of treatments, including IV antibiotics, chemotherapy, and home nutrition, and its services are coordinated with the NHS through prescriptions.

The Challenge

Lloyds Clinical was born out of an acquisition of Lloyds Pharmacy by Aurellius in 2022, the business was subsequently divested and now operates in niche workstreams.

Lloyds wanted to create a single source of truth for their data, migrating all onto one system and allowing the business to make data informed decisions, quickly.

Our Approach

Vivo was engaged at the outset of the divestment to pitch for the data transformation project, competing directly with a well-known global consulting group.

Lloyds required a scalable team of Data Engineers across an 18-month period, with skillsets evolving in line with each phase of the project.

We structured the project into three distinct phases:

Phase 1 – Migration

Extract legacy data and migrate it into Azure Data Lake.

Phase 2 – Development

Build and optimise the Data Lake architecture; run Proofs of Concept to validate design.

Phase 3 – Deployment

Full business deployment, process improvements, and data visualisation enablement.

Throughout the engagement, we focused on:

  • Delivering a cost-effective resourcing model aligned with Lloyds’ timelines.
  • Ensuring an excellent technical and cultural fit to support their internal project team.
  • Remaining agile to meet shifting skill requirements across each phase.

The Outcome

Vivo successfully deployed 10 contractors β€” at the same overall cost quoted by the global consultancy for just 4 consultants.

Key results include:

  • 24 hours to present candidate CVs
  • 72 hours average turnaround from brief to start date
  • Β£500k cost saving, while scaling delivery with 6 additional contractors
  • Hired 2 FTC contractors to manage the BAU phase post-delivery

The project was completed in 15 months, ahead of the original 18-month schedule.

Now that all data is stored within a single data lake, Lloyds can make informed business decisions quickly and efficiently. With OPEX savings increasing quarterly, this has increased EBIT Value and is generating significant profits for the owners.

Why It Matters

This project is a testament to Vivo’s ability to deliver cost-effective, high-quality interim solutions without compromise. Lloyds, being Private Equity-backed, demanded exceptional value β€” and we delivered. Today, with all data stored in a single Azure Data Lake, Lloyds Clinical can make rapid, informed decisions. Operational expenditure has decreased quarter-on-quarter, increasing EBIT value and generating significant returns for stakeholders.
